Reading Guide for Book X

1. When Shiduri tries to prevent Gilgamesh from entering the tavern, he threatens to smash her door. What does this tell you about Gilgamesh? Has he transformed?

2. After reading Gilgamesh's description to Shiduri of the reason for his journey, do you think he is searching out of sorrow for Enkidu or out of fear of his own death?

3. Be sure to underline Shiduri's advice to Gilgamesh and briefly summarize the advice in the margin.
