Hello Students:

We are at that point in the quint when we have many trails to follow. Here is a list of them:

1. Review lecture notes and practice writing identifications. I posted the "hoplite phalanx" example from today. I also added notes for "autonomy." Soon I will post a few from Victoria's lecture.

2. Vocabulary. Keep memorizing it!

3. Writing:
Your assignment is to write a philosophical essay in which you state whether it is right to cheat or to break a law in China or Taiwan. Is this action defensible? Will the person who cheats or who breaks the law harm himself or others?

When you complete this writing, be sure to use a direct quote from Socrates's dialogue with Crito. You must respond to the arguments that Socrates makes in this dialogue at least once in your essay. (I posted a simplified version of the ending under the Ancient Greece heading.)

You may also read MLK's Letter from the Birmingham Jail. I have posted a simplified version of the letter under the MLK Day letter.

Thanks.
Heather
